If you really wanted to go off the deep end, you could say that the Neanderthals and Dennisovans were wiped out because some inquisitor on some investigation found that these early humans were guilty of some crime, real or imagined. Maybe there was an alien species there that was wiped out by some inquisitor on one of there investigations. Not to mention, that humanity, at least here on Earth, has always had a weird fixation with Mars, and what could have lived there. But in this world it could also be that the Mechanicus, or one of its precursors towed those asteroids into place, either for resource extraction, or as some mechanism of terraforming. Mars' two moons are asteroids thought to have been captured by the planet's gravity from the nearby asteroid belt. If you wanted to be more radical, I would say that the Mars was either a lost sister colony, or a previous colonization attempt gone awry. ![]() After all, if the Necrons wanted us dead at a time when the pyramid builders were alive and kicking, I imagine the "battle" between us wouldn't really resemble a battle, I mean hell, massacre might even be too generous a descriptor. As well, it would also seem to indicate that Necrons acted towards our ancient humanity in a way that could be interpreted as relatively benevolent, or at least radically uninterested. ![]() This would also indicate that this presence was relatively recent (as it would have had to have influenced the ancient Egyptians). So it would stand to reason (at least in this thread) that at one time or another, there was some Necron presence on Earth. Given our histories, cultures, and religions, what lore of our spot in the universe could be extracted, or assumed?Īs an example, there seems to be an awful lot of similarities (at least in terms of architecture, religion, and general terminology) between ancient Egypt and popular depictions of Necrons. And then I started thinking about how this theoretical earth would fit into the universe, and thus the thread.įor the sake of discussion, let's assume that our Earth is some lost human colony in the 40k universe. I'm planning on doing some rpg set in the 40k universe with a few of my friends, and I really like the idea of our Earth being a lost colony.
